For others, it simply means staying close, enjoying the garden and apartement, and letting time pass a little more gently.

A stay at your own pace

Your holiday apartment becomes a base for your time in Denmark.

From here, you can set out on small adventures – walking, cycling or discovering the many quiet places around Hornsherred and the fjord. The area offers a variety of local experiences, all within easy reach, while still feeling far from busy tourist routes.

At the same time, it is easy to explore further.

The historic city of Roskilde is around 30 minutes away, while Copenhagen can be reached in about an hour, either by car or by train from Frederikssund, just 10 km from the farm, where you can conveniently park your car.

If you feel like going a little further, North Zealand and the coastal town of Helsingør can be reached in approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, offering a different landscape of forests, coastline and small seaside towns.

If you prefer to stay closer to the farm, there is space to simply be.
To sit outside, to read, or to watch the rhythm of the countryside unfold around you.

There is no right way to spend your time here.

Your apartment

You stay in one of Nordgården’s spacious holiday apartments, set within the old farm buildings.

Each apartment is designed to be a comfortable home during your stay, with:

a fully equipped kitchen

private bathroom

living and dining area

space for families, couples or small groups

The style is simple and Nordic, with a calm atmosphere that reflects the surroundings.

Whether you stay for a weekend or longer, the apartment gives you the freedom to settle in and feel at home.

Bed linen and utilities can be included, so you can simply arrive and settle in.

Final cleaning is always part of the price. 

A countryside setting with space for children

Even without participating in farm activities, the surroundings are very much part of the experience.

Children can play freely in the garden, move between sandbox and trampoline, and explore the open spaces around the farm.
Animals are present on the farm and in the fields nearby, and often become a natural part of what children notice and talk about during the day.

This creates a stay where there is both freedom and a quiet connection to life on the farm – without a fixed programme.

About the animals

This type of stay does not include participation in the daily animal rounds.

Access to the animals takes place together with the host during the farm stay programme, which is a separate type of stay.

However, you are still close to the animals – you may see them in the fields, and experience the atmosphere of a smallholding as part of your surroundings.

At times, shared activities in the garden, such as pancakes over the fire, may be open to all guests staying on the farm.

Explore the area

Nordgården is located in Hornsherred, close to Roskilde Fjord, in an area known for its quiet landscapes and small local experiences. We are part of VisitFjordlandet – a region shaped by the fjord and the surrounding nature, where small destinations and local routes invite you to explore at a gentle pace.

You can explore the area on foot or by bike, and we are always happy to suggest routes and places to visit – from hidden nature spots to small local highlights.
At the farm, we offer rental of electric bikes, as well as trailers and child seats, making it easy for families to get around together. We do not have bicycles for children, but many find that the shared ride becomes part of the experience.

If you prefer, you can simply stay close and let the days unfold more slowly.

At Nordgården, you are welcomed by your host, Sarah, who runs the holiday stays here, while living on the farm together with her husband and their four children.

Nordgården is a smallholding in Hornsherred, with a variety of animals – including horses, sheep, pigs, rabbits, chickens, dogs and cats – and a calm, everyday rhythm that shapes the experience of staying here.
